Hybrid Modulation Based on Combining of AM and UNB

To improve spectral efficiency, a Hybrid modulation format based on combining of AM and UNB is proposed in the article. And channel capacity of the Hybrid modulation is analyzed. According to FCC AM spectral emission mask and china national standards on AM transmitter, the time and frequency domain characteristics of the modulation format are analyzed, it is fund that the licensed AM users can avoid interference and work well by adaptive UNB modulation and transmitting power control using spectral sensing. Aimed at the interference of UNB signals suffered form AM signals, a carrier canceling method is designed to extract weak UNB signal form the strong AM backgrounds. Computer simulation shows that additional bit rate of 72.65625 kbps can be transmitted while AM works smoothly. So, better spectrum efficiency is achieved.
